DTC Botswana Launches the 2010 Shining Light Diamond Jewellery Design competition
03-11-2009
DTC Botswana is once again hosting the Shining Light Diamond Jewellery Design competition which showcases the creativity and talent of designers in Botswana. The second Shining Light competition which is only open to Botswana citizens is geared towards assisting the country to be one of the leading diamond centres in the world as well as establishing a thriving downstream diamond industry.
Intrinsic to this diamond jewellery design competition are the Design Workshops which are conducted as part of the competition and whose main intent is to impart and enhance jewellery skills. It is at these workshops that designers from all facets of the country are able to network freely and benefit from the input provided by technical jewellery experts and guest speakers from around the world.
The theme of the 2010 Shining Light competition is ‘Enduring Bonds’ and it is based on the idea that a special bond between two people is unique and endures over time. The new Shining Light collection of diamond jewellery will embody the symbiotic relationship between diamonds and stories by symbolizing the unique and emotional bond between two people. Entrants have to be inspired by this theme for the design of their diamond jewellery pieces. DTC Botswana will be launching the 2010 Shining Light competition by hosting an Entry Form and Theme Presentation at Westwood International School on 13th November 2009 beginning at 14h00. Citizens wishing to enter the competition will be provided with invaluable information on the competition. Admission to the launch is free. There is no doubt that Botswana’s cultural and natural landscape has forever been the inspiration of artists and poets alike, but it is the country’s Shining Light, the Diamond that continues to illuminate, captivate and arouse. It is through endeavours such as the Shining Light Awards, that we are all able to demonstrate to the rest of the world that working together towards a shared set of values enables us to go forward, united and stronger. The Shining Light competition is indeed positioning diamonds as the country’s strategic resource. For more information contact:
