Mr Gabaake G. Gabaake The new Chairperson of the Diamond Trading Company Botswana

The Board of Directors of the Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Gabaake G. Gabaake as the Board Chairman of DTCB. Mr. Gabaake takes over from Ms. Varda Shine who has served as the DTCB Board Chairperson since September 2007.

Mr. Gabaake is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.

He started his career in 1986 in the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources as an Assistant Hydrogeologist in the Department of Geological Survey. He has held various senior positions, including Director of Water Affairs; Deputy Permanent Secretary responsible for transport in the Ministry of Works and Transport; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government.

He holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Botswana and an MSc in Groundwater Hydrology from the University College of London in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Gabaake has written and presented a number of technical reports and papers. The most notable was the presentation of a key note paper on water resources administration and management in Botswana at an International Conference on ‘The Role of National Geological Surveys in Sustainable Development’. He is also the main author of two chapters in the Botswana National Atlas, namely, the Water Resources and the Hydrology chapters.
