Earlier today, DTC Botswana had the pleasure of hosting students from the Botswana Defence Command and Staff College. The college runs an annual 12 month Senior Command and Staff Programme designed to prepare mid level officers to take on command and staff responsibilities at the operational level.
The visiting delegation consisted of lieutenant colonels and majors from several countries, including Botswana, Nigeria, South Africa, Lesotho, and Zambia, along with two members of the directing staff. This marks almost the third consecutive year that DTC Botswana has welcomed students from the college, offering them an opportunity to gain deeper insights into our operations, learn about natural diamonds, and understand our role in driving socio economic development in Botswana. As a key stakeholder, the Botswana Defence Force continues to work closely with DTC Botswana to safeguard the countryβs diamonds, sharing expertise and ideas that support ongoing improvement in the security space.
During his opening remarks, the Acting Commandant of the Defence Command and Staff College, Col Dr. Steve Thaga, expressed his pride in being part of the diamond journey. He highlighted that, as an instrument of national power, the defence force is deeply invested in understanding how national resources are developed and the security measures put in place to protect both the goods and the people. Engagements of this nature are vital, as they create a platform for new ideas, open avenues for future opportunities, and strengthen partnerships that contribute to the countryβs economic growth.
