On the 8th July 2023, Diamond Trading Company Botswana in partnership with Botswana Football Association (BFA) hosted the 2nd edition of the DTC Botswana Women’s Football Semi-Finals and Finals at Lekidi Football Centre and the National Stadium. Four teams participated at the spectacular football show which saw Double Action from Gaborone being named as the 2023 DTC Botswana Women’s Football Championship Winners, walking away with the first-place prize of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pula (P250 000).
The top four participating teams were Double Action, Western Dynamite from Maun, Gaborone United from Gaborone, and Granada FC from Selebi-Phikwe. Granada FC scooped fourth place walking away with Fifty Thousand Pula (P50, 000) whilst Western Dynamites walked away with One Hundred Thousand Pula (P100 000) as third place finalists. Second place winners were Gaborone United FC who walked away with One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pula (P150 000).
The championship was graced by different affiliates from Sports, Football, Gender Equality, Diamond Mining, Government and Banking to name a few. Executives such as the BFA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mfolo Mfolo, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana National Sports Council, Mr. Tuelo Serufho were some of the dignitaries that graced the event as well the members of the DTC Botswana Board of Directors and the Managing Director of DTC Botswana, Mr. Sedireng ‘Sed’ Serumola with his senior executive team.
According to Mr. Sedireng Serumola, the Championship is significant in the DTC Botswana social performance and sustainability strategy as it reaffirms DTC Botswana’s full commitment of empowering communities and elevating women through sport.
