DTC Botswana Donates To Gamodubu Child Care Trust

On 18th July 2019, DTC Botswana officially handed over a Porta Cabin to Gamodubu Child Care Trust, which is valued to the tune of P450,000 (Four hundred and fifty thousand pula)

Gamodubu Child Care Trust is a nonprofit organisation which is an Independent Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) home, the centre is situated in the Kweneng District just a few kilometres from Gaborone. It is founded by Ms. Shirley Madikwe. The aim of the trust is to reduce OVC’s by 50% by year 2036 through: coaching on life skills, survival skill, moral education, behavioural styles, family values as well as being independent. The centre currently has 237 registered orphans and vulnerable children (NB: only 40 of the 237 children reside at the centre), the youth and 15 volunteers who are mainly single and unemployed women.

Corporate Social Investment is one of our key drivers at DTC Botswana, we believe that every community within Botswana should benefit directly from the country’s raw minerals. We pride ourselves in ensuring that the projects we get involved with have a wide impact and will continue making a difference years after inception.

DTC Botswana responded to a plea made by Gamodubu Child Care as that the centre does not only focus on children’s needs but also gives them an opportunity to be independent as they finish their secondary school as they are then given an opportunity to study at CITF.

At the official handover, DTC Botswana CSI Board Chairman, Adv. Abraham M Keetshabe said, ‘’Partnering with Gamodubu Child Care Trust is just one of the many initiatives DTC Botswana undertakes to give back and grow communities across our Nation.’’ He also thanked Ms. Shirley Madikwe and her team of volunteers for truly doing an exceptional job at what they do as they have a genuine passion and love for children.
